Hi there! Looks like your web browser is out of date.
We’ve designed this site to be compatible with modern web browsers and encourage you to update.
Spray your quilt with a product called Vectra. This is a fabric protector. It repels 86% of household stains and protects from dust entering in the batting of your quilt.
Spot wash your quilt with warm water and a clean cloth.
A process that involves low agitation is best.
Steam cleaning is one of these processes. Most reputable cleaners can do this. It is the same way wedding dresses and draperies are cleaned.
The chemicals are harsh and usually not necessary.
You can also wash your quilt at home. It is important to know your water content. It shouldn’t contain any chlorine, rust, or mineral deposits.
A front loading or the newer top loading machines that do not agitate can be used.
Use lukewarm water and mild soap.
Do not twist the quilt to wring the water out.
Line dry out of direct sun.
You can also hand wash your quilt in your bathtub, following the above directions.
Do not put your quilt into the dryer when it is wet.
