Rustic Apple Pie Recipe

Apple Pie at it's finest!

  • 1 9" pastry sheet for pies
  • 5 cups peeled and thinly sliced apples (McIntosh, Granny Smith)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
  • dash of salt
  • Optional: 1/2 cup raisins or 1/2 cup walnuts or pecans
  • 2 Tablespoons Olive Basin Cinnamon Pear Balsamic Vinegar

Preheat oven to 375.

Unroll pastry on parchment covered baking sheet. In a medium sized mixing bowl, combine the sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt. Add apple slices and stir to coat with the flour sugar mixture.

Gently pour apple mixture into the center of the pastry sheet, leaving a 2 inch ring around the edges. Gently put edges up to center. Drizzle with balsamic vinegar.

Bake at 375 for 35-40 minutes or until apples are tender and pastry is golden brown. You may have to cover the pastry with strips of aluminum foil during the last 15 minutes of baking.
