Lancaster County Peanut Soup Recipe


An Asian inspired soup featuring Peanut Butter Schmier.


  • 1 pint Kitchen Kettle Peanut Butter Schmier
  • 15 oz. can chopped or crushed tomato
  • 4 T butter
  • 1 T chopped garlic
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 1/2 cup diced celery
  • 1 pint diced chicken
  • 1/2 gal. chicken stock
  • 5 T flour
  • 1 T curry powder
  • 1/2 t cayenne pepper


Saute onions and celery in melted butter. After the vegetables become limp add the flour and continue to cook. Add curry powder and cayenne pepper and cook a few minutes. Don’t let it brown. Add chicken stock slowly and then tomatoes. Add Peanut Butter Schmier and simmer another 20-30 minutes. Add chicken and heat slightly Remove from stove and check seasoning. =.
