Winter’s cold weather and short days make it high season for knitting and crocheting. For the crafter, winter means inspiration for new ideas and new projects, and it brings a new energy which motivates us to create.
At Lancaster Yarn Shop, we believe quality materials and sturdy tools build good crafting skills. We specialize in natural fibers, which are lovely to work with and a pleasure to wear. In cold weather, wool, alpaca, and silk really do keep you warmer! We carry Knitter’s Pride and Brittany knitting needles and crochet hooks, and a variety of tools and notions for knitters and crocheters.
In addition to yarns from all over the world, we carry locally sourced yarns including ‘Plain Yarn,’ 100% Romney wool from a local Amish farm, and ‘Kettle Dyed Yarn,’ which is locally hand-dyed in small batches. Both of these yarns are only available at our shop at Kitchen Kettle Village, or in our online store on our website, lancasteryarnshop.com.
Lancaster Yarn Shop is part of a thriving and active fiber community. We have a full schedule of Classes and FREE Workshops in addition to annual retreats featuring nationally known teachers. Knit-a-Longs, ‘Yarn Tastings,’ and other special events round out our fiber calendar.
Our shop is open to all for weekly social craft time every Tuesday morning (9:30 – 11:30) AND Thursday evening (4:00 – 7:00 in winter, 5 – 8 otherwise). If you need help with your knitting or crocheting, we offer expert advice to get you and your project back on track - stop in for a word of encouragement or help picking up a dropped stitch. We also do expert mending and repair, and offer private lessons for you or your small group. Check our website or call the shop for more details.
When you visit Lancaster Yarn Shop this winter, you’ll agree that unprecedented access to fine yarns, beautiful tools, and interesting patterns, makes it a great time to be a knitter or crocheter! Let’s make something beautiful together!
After 23 years at Kitchen Kettle Village, Phil & Stephanie Garnett will be hanging up their pottery wheel and ending their time at the Village. Their shop will remain open though the end of October 2021. In March of 2022, the shop will reopen under new ownership.
