An Anniversary Trip to Remember

Over the past month we have received hundreds of memories and stories from our loyal guests.  We’ve read through them and selected the top stories to share.

“We were heading up to the Adirondacks for our 19th anniversary, but we made sure to make a pit stop at KKV overnight on our way up…”

Christine and her husband are from Summersville, West Virginia and while they have visited the about 20 times, one visit inparticular sticks out. Christine shared that every time they visit they are treated like royalty, love how people remember their name and always feel very welcome at the Village. Please enjoy the memory from Christine and her husband below…

About six years ago, we were heading up to the Adirondacks for our 19th anniversary, but we made sure to make a pit stop at The Inn at Kitchen Kettle overnight on our way up. We had a wonderful beginning to our anniversary trip! We were treated like royalty by Don who was one of the wonderful innkeepers at the time.

Upon leaving KKV, things went downhill! When we arrived at our rented house in the Adirondacks, we were horrified to find it dirty, musty and infested with mice! We even slept in our van that first night because I couldn’t stand the thought of closing my eyes or laying my head on the pillow in that house!

The next morning, while I was on the phone with the owners of this house gently explaining why we wouldn’t be staying there throughout the week as planned, my husband contacted Don back at KKV. He told him our horrible, but now hilarious, story of our experience on our 19th anniversary. Don politely listened to it all, and before my husband could even ask if a room, ANY room, was available for the rest of the week, Don simply asked, “Do you want your room back”? We couldn’t say “yes” fast enough! Less than 24 hours after leaving KKV, we were right back where we started – home, in room #901.

When we asked Christine about her favorite part of the Village she replied, “Oh my goodness! We definitely love the breakfast at The Kling House each morning, but I have to say every time we open the door to Room 901, it feels like coming home! Could you rename that one the Kinney Suite?”
