Sticky Buns Recipe

Another Lancaster County specialty!

Ingredients

  • Dough Ingredients:
  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1/8 cup warm water
  • 1 cup scalded milk
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1-1/2 tbsp. shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 2-3 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp. cinnamon
  • Topping Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup bown sugar
  • 1/8 cup margarine
  • 1 tbsp. corn syrup
  • 1/8 cup water

Instructions

1. Soak yeast in warm water. Meanwhile, scald milk and add sugar, salt and shortening, Cool mixture until lukewarm. Add yeast and eggs to the milk mixture.

2. Add 2 cups flour. Add more flour to make a soft dough. Knead mixture until smooth and elastic. Let rise for 45 minutes.

3. Roll out dough into a rectangular shape. Spread melted butter, brown sugar and cinnamon over the dough. Roll up dough and cut into 3/4-1 in. pieces.

4. Mix all topping ingredients and heat until sugar is dissolved. Our topping into two greased 8" cake pans. Place sticky buns onto the topping and let rise or 1 hour.

5. Bake at 275 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
